St Werburghs Green Feast

Thanks for coming to Green Feast July 2023

Thank you to everyone who came along to our second Green Feast and Positive Climate Action event in July 2023. We loved hearing everyone’s ideas for individual and community climate actions. There was so much passion and enthusiasm in the room!

We enjoyed hosting We the Curious and Centre for Sustainable Energy who shared resources that engaged adults and kids in climate action in a fun, approachable way. And a huge thank you to Quartet Community Foundation and Bristol City Council for supporting our Green Feast events this year.

Last but not least, big thanks to Neck of the Woods Cafe for cooking up a healthy, tasty vegan feast for our guests.

Thanks for coming to our first Green Feast!

On Friday 3rd March 2023 we welcomed the local community to the Centre for our Green Feast & Positive Climate Action event. The afternoon included a free vegetarian meal and family activities.

It was a pleasure to bring such a diverse group together to share knowledge and talk about how we as a community can focus on solutions, pledges, small goals and behavioural changes we can all make.

We are grateful to our event contributors and partners: St Werburghs Primary school, Green Families Group, St Werburghs City Farm, Bristol Energy Network, Bristol Waste, UWE College of Arts, Technology & Environment, Mary-Rose Clark Counselling, Three Birds One Stone – what a wonderful collaboration – Thank You!

We the Curious ran activities to engage children while adults had an opportunity to chat with stallholders about transport, waste, food, goods and services, money and eco anxiety.

Local residents talked the issue of bus services being cut (e.g. the 47), leaving residents in St Werburgh’s without access to public transport, concerns around road safety during school drop off and pick up times, successes of pupils talking to the Bristol Mayor and ideas for overcoming eco anxiety through Climate Cafe and community places to talk. There was a lot of passion, enthusiasm and appetite to do more!

“It was a lovely event and the food was delicious!”

“Loved Ella’s cooking yesterday.”

Green Pledges from our community

Our first Green Feast, kindly funded by Quartet Community Foundation and Bristol City Council took place in March 2023. It was an opportunity to bring together people in our local community to think about environmental action at a local level. We asked the visitors to make small eco pledges which we then projected up onto a huge screen whilst we all enjoyed a delicious vegan meal. The pledges made for a great prompt when discussing what the future could look like. We were particularly thrilled that so many children got involved with making pledges and we’re looking forward to finding out how they got on at our next Green Feast event later this year.

You can see all the guest’s pledges here on our Green Feast 2023 Pledges page.
