Bristol One City Cost of Living Response

We are recruiting for community-focused Volunteers to help our visitors feel welcome in our friendly, warm and safe space.

This is a valuable opportunity to be part of our vibrant Community Centre, while connecting with like-minded people, uplifting others and gaining rewarding experiences.

The role activities include:

  • Making friendly conversation
  • Helping residents get involved with an activity
  • Meeting and greeting visitors
  • Checking in on residents using the space
  • Signposting residents to groups and services
  • Support open access computer users by helping to sign up, log in and assist with enquiries, for example help to understand and respond to emails / letters / bills
  • Helping users with photocopying and printing

Flexible hours, to be agreed. Suggested minimum: 3 hours weekly for 3 to 6 months.

Events Volunteer

Come and help us with our community events.

Join our enthusiastic team of volunteers! If you can spare 2-3 hours, there are a variety of roles and shifts available.

Roles and tasks vary depending on the event, but these can include and are not limited to:

  • Welcoming & stewarding
  • Setting & clearing up
  • Serving & prepping food and drink
  • Decorating
  • Running stalls & small activities
  • General support
  • PR & Comms

St Werburghs Community Centre is looking for a reliable volunteer to support the Raking & Baking project coordinator on this key cooking and gardening project.

Hours: 6 hours on a Thursday

FoodShare Volunteer

We are looking for enthusiastic Volunteers to run St Werburghs Foodshare. This project has been running since July 2020, with a solid base of regular users and there are processes and contacts in place to support its operations. The role is based at St Werburghs Community Centre and focuses on providing support in response to the cost of living crisis – specifically providing food and essential items to vulnerable families and members of the local community.

You will co-coordinate Foodshare services from the Centre, one day a week (Thursday) working with other volunteers and liaising with Centre staff in order to deliver a quality service.

Hours: 1 day per week (Thursdays) – to include preparation, food collection and direct delivery time.

Please note that:

  • we ask that you commit to a minimum of four months of volunteer time as it takes time to train you in the role.
  • this is a voluntary role and all volunteer expenses will be covered (transport, lunch) in line with our policies.

Summary of responsibilities and personal duties:

You will co-run Food Share service at the Centre working with another volunteer coordinator plus other ad hoc volunteers in planning and organising donations of produce, packing parcels and carrying out the distribution of these from the Centre to targeted recipients.
